Scanning Ocean Sectors training company aim’s to raise the standard and efficacy of trained marine mammal observers, to encourage awareness of species and increase the number of correctly identified marine mammal sightings.
The training packages we have developed evolve with each training programme, some are specifically designed for individual companies requesting specialised group training. All trained observers are encouraged to attend a refresher course at the end of a 3 year period, as guidelines change over time and there is a need to keep at the forefront of all changes.
We want to encourage the awareness of all types of oceanic pollution and the effects of fishing on marine mammals. The reporting of all sightings of live, stranded and dead animals so that there can be a better picture of what is happening in our seas around the world. All sighting reports are encouraged as no sightings are as important as sightings.
The company wants to promote liaison between, funding bodies, researchers, boat owners, marine mammal observers and the general public. We want to create a forum for world wide discussion about all relevant issues to assist academics and the general public who have a keen interest in marine mammals and the condition of our seas.
